Like in a movie. In fact, some productions such as music videos, short films or scenes of some films have been recorded there. And it doesn\u2019t surprise me. Going through these landscapes evoke in us some kind of\u00a0<b>post-apocalyptic scenario<\/b>due to its large number of abandoned and ruined buildings.<\/p><p>Not to mention the surreal color of the earth, in which there is a multitude of\u00a0<b>ocher tones<\/b>\u00a0that give the impression of walking on another planet.<\/p><p>If you ever\u00a0<b>imagined the surface of Mars,<\/b>\u00a0you certainly imagined it similar to this landscape. In addition, you can find some small red or yellow lagoons in which this peculiar landscape is reflected.<\/p><p><b>The entire mining complex is huge<\/b>, so you can spend some hours walking around and discovering every corner. No need to say, it is a paradise for photography lovers.<\/p><p>Multitude of forms and colors in the sand, constructions and abandoned machinery such as wooden castles that allow the extraction of materials. Vegetation covering what one day the man built. Although anyone can enjoy a route through the mines of Mazarr\u00f3n,\u00a0<b>hiking around<\/b>\u00a0and discovering this peculiar landscape that is difficult to find anywhere else.<\/p>\n<p><b>Everything is outdoors<\/b>, there is no way to access to the interior of the mine.<\/p>\n<p>It is\u00a0<b>one of the most emblematic abandoned places<\/b>\u00a0in the Region of Murcia, which, in addition, does not have regulated access, therefore, it is free.<\/p>\n<h2>Precautions visiting the mines: Some tips<\/h2>\n<p>Being an abandoned place, it\u00a0<b>does not have any security measures<\/b>. Special care must be taken with the existence of open wells and small cliffs.<\/p>\n<p>Do not enter the inside the ruins, as there is a danger of collapse, especially with wind or rain. If it rains or has rained, we may find a lot of mud since almost the entire route takes place on land. It is a recommended visit for everyone, but you have to take\u00a0<b>special care when visiting with kids.<\/b><\/p>\n<h2>A bit of the Mazarron\u2019s mining history<\/h2>\n<p>Mining is part of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitamazarron.com\/en\/known-mazarron\/history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>historical and cultural heritage of Mazarr\u00f3n<\/u><\/a>. It has been one of the basic economic pillars of several settlers of Mazarr\u00f3n, thanks, in addition to the mineral wealth of the land,\u00a0 to the possibility of sea shipping.<\/p>\n<p>The first mining operations date from the\u00a0<b>Bronze Age<\/b>, although\u00a0<b>the Romans<\/b>\u00a0were the most successful in this enterprise between the second century BC and the second century A.D.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, during the\u00a0<b>Middle Ages<\/b>, the activities did not reach a large volume judging by archaeological evidence, with a more likely<b>\u00a0Islamic exploitation<\/b>\u00a0taking advantage of existing facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Already<b>\u00a0in modern times<\/b>, the mining activity will regain importance focusing on the exploitation of<b>\u00a0alum<\/b>\u00a0(already existing in the background since ancient times) and, later, of the\u00a0<b>almagra<\/b>. At the present time, there is no mining in the area, since its cessation due to various causes such as the depletion of resources, the fall in prices of materials that were extracted or the constant flooding of the galleries.<\/p>\n<h2>How to get to the Mazarr\u00f3n mines<\/h2>\n<p><b>Access is free and open<\/b>\u00a0to the public. It can be accessed from different points.
